Founded in 2004, the Québec Association for lodging consultants for seniors (ACHQ), is a group of professionals who support seniors and their families in their efforts to find an RPA.
The members of the ACHQ are committed to offering a professional service respecting a code of ethics which governs the practice of the profession.
Integrity
- Avoid any situations with a conflict of interest.
- Be neutral and impartial when selecting private seniors' residences.
- Avoid being accountable to anyone who may influence undue actions that go beyond the performance of their duties.
- Act with diligence, vigilance and benevolence in each of the cases we treat.
The right to information
- Ensure the accuracy and clarity of the information we provide to the senior and family about residences that could meet his/her needs.
- Involve the senior's family in the decision-making process, if it is the senior's wish.
- Ensure the senior's full participation and consent in decisions that affect him/her, depending on his/her abilities
- Answer the senior's, family's or caregiver's questions to ensure that they understand the process.
Respect
- Treat the senior with courtesy, fairness and empathy, respecting his/her needs, values and abilities.
- Avoid placing pressure on the senior, family or caregiver to avoid making a rushed decision.
Confidentiality
- Ensure the confidentiality of the senior's personal and medical information.
- Obtain consent from the senior for the transfer of records to third parties if necessary to ensure that the senior receives all the services and care he/she needs.
Social responsibility
- Inform the appropriate authorities of any abuse or unsafe situation that would endanger the safety of the senior.
